a straight and horiontal bar in cartilaginous fishes forming the pelvic girdle. The pelvic fins articulate at the acetabular surfaces. An iliac process extends from each end of the bar. In Elasmobranchii both halves of the pelvic girdle are fused into a single ventral puboischiadic bar
